There is just no reason for closing the fairgrounds. A lot of revenue comes from the fairgrounds without the actual fair. Some one let the fair run a muck the last few years and it was definitely not a safe area. This year was better but now Wilson county has a great fair going. Once you lose momentum like the Nashville fair it is really hard to re-start. But there are plenty of events there all year long that do generate income and tax revenue. Were would all of these venues go? probably out of county and take the tax revenue with them.

I am really upset that people are just letting Dean make a one-man decision on what to do with this piece of property. I don't know if he has any back room deals or not but it does make you wonder.
I believe that we need to keep the property and on an unrelated note not build a convention center right now. I am in favor of building most of the time and I like progress but now is not the time for getting rid of the fairgrounds or spending a bunch more money.

I am for keeping the fairgrounds. I read on one of the websites where someone suggested that we don't confuse the fairgrounds with the fair and I think that was right on target.
